Observatories

A backyard observatory or portable observatory shelter protects your telescope and equipment from wind, dew, dust and stray light, so you can observe and image more comfortably and set up faster. Explore Scientific's pop-up observatory tents offer a practical, portable alternative to a permanent observatory dome.

Our two-room pop-up observatory tent sets up quickly and provides shelter for your telescope and a separate space for your laptop, accessories and gear. It blocks wind that can shake telescopes and blur images, reduces dew on optics, and shields your setup from neighbors' lights, making it ideal for backyard astrophotography, star parties and remote dark-sky trips.

When choosing an observatory shelter, consider the size of your telescope and mount, how often you move it, and the weather conditions where you observe. A portable observatory lets you leave equipment set up for multiple nights, saving setup and polar alignment time and giving you more hours under the stars.
