120° Series: The Widest Field Telescope Eyepiece
The Explore Scientific 120° Series eyepiece offers an extraordinary 120-degree apparent field of view, one of the widest ever produced for amateur telescopes. Looking through it feels less like peering through an eyepiece and more like floating among the stars, with the field stop pushed so far out that it fades into your peripheral vision.
Built with waterproof, argon-purged construction and fully multi-coated optics, the 120° Series is designed for observers who want the ultimate in immersive viewing. It is especially rewarding on larger telescopes and Dobsonians, where it frames big targets such as the Orion Nebula, the Double Cluster and dense Milky Way star fields with breathtaking context. Because the field is so wide, objects stay in view longer as they drift across the sky, making it a superb choice for manual telescope observing and for sharing the view with friends and family at star parties.
Because of its size and weight, the 120° Series is best suited to sturdy telescopes with 2-inch focusers and well-balanced mounts, and it shines on Dobsonians where it maximizes the time an object stays in view between nudges. Many observers keep it as a special 'wow' eyepiece for outreach events, where first-time viewers are amazed by the scope of the view. Pair it with a coma corrector on fast Newtonian reflectors for the sharpest stars across the field. For astronomers who want the most immersive telescope eyepiece available, the 120° Series is in a class of its own.
