Especially with the Lunar and planetary observation but also in solar observing this prevents filter a blooming of the finest details.

Sun observation only in connection with a suitable sun protection filter!

Especially when using a Herschel wedge and with large lens openings, the variable polarization filter can reduce the brightness of the objects to be observed to a comfortable level.
